Our New Crèche

The crèche facilities being offered to our students has been very active and is a wonderful space to see the children playing and learning while our parent students are in class. Parenting and studying can be quite challenging, and this service provides a solution for families that wouldn’t otherwise be able to study full time. The crèche team has worked tenderly, helping create close bonds with all of the children, and providing them with a safe place to learn and develop new skills.

A Typical Day at Crèche…

The crèche’s daily routine begins at 8.30am, which is when all the children start arriving. Our morning consists of free play, where children can touch and move and just be themselves. We have a little stop to share morning tea of fruit and toast.

After a quick fun filled story, we spend the rest of our morning with craft, painting and enjoying the tactile and goopy play dough. Then mummies and daddies come and pick up their children for lunch.

When the children return from lunch it’s quiet time for the little ones that are tired and in need of a rest. This rest period gives the bigger kids the opportunity to explore, investigate and experiment with more age appropriate experiences such as treasure hunt walks, practicing our ABC’s and numbers. The children have even printed their own t-shirts.

The day flies by so quickly, before we know it mum and dad have returned to pick the children up.

The crèche staff

Working in the crecheIn the short time I’ve been at Marr Mooditj I’ve met so many amazing little people, we are so lucky at the Marr Mooditj crèche we are right there in the middle of the beautiful surrounds of Clontarf Campus.

I have been so fortunate to be able to share many special moments with our little people and their family members on our special mat under the shade of the big old gum trees, swapping stories and experiences, playing games and relaxing in the gorgeous weather we have been having lately.

One of our children Tyson and his Nan joined us last week for lunch, it was then that we noticed Tyson watching the mummy kookaburra in a nearby tree y back and forth feeding her chicks. It’s been wonderful working here and I can foresee lots of special memories being made on our special mat under the big old trees.

Nicole’s experience with Crèche

“Without the crèche I wouldn’t be able to study. It has helped me so much especially coming down from Geraldton and not having much family in the area. I wouldn’t have anywhere to leave my daughter while studying. It’s not only helped me but has helped my daughter in so many ways too.

She has come out of her shell so much and has learnt heaps since she’s been attending.

I think the ladies do a fantastic job and the relationship my daughter has with them is amazing. I think she thinks of them as family. I am so grateful for the crèche!”
