CAVSS / LLN Support Educator

Role purpose

  • Plan, prepare and implement CAVSS in accordance with the course rules, business rules, DTWD contracts
  • Plan, prepare and implement LLN support to students to achieve successful outcomes in their course

Key Responsiblities and Accountabilities

Operational

  • Adhere to all MMT Policies and Procedures that are in place
  • Attend and participate effectively at all staff meetings
  • Adhere to the work place safety policy and procedures at all times
  • Report health and safety concerns as soon as reasonably possible
  • Participate in team strategic planning sessions
  • Provide screening and clearances to meet job role and MMT compliance as per the policy
  • Support with promotional development events as required
  • Participate in Audits as required

Key Performance Task and Key Indicators

CAVSS Course

  • Develop timetable and session plans that demonstrate team teaching approached used for CAVSS in accordance with the CAVSS policy and guidelines
  • Team teach with the MMT educator as scheduled in the session plans
  • Keep the appropriate diary and records of CAVSS delivery, including the hours
  • Participate effectively at end of block meetings by providing a report on outcomes and individual support needs of students  to support delivery of CAVSS
  • Keep abreast of all Professional development as per the CAVSS business rules to remain compliance with course
  • Attend CAVSS forum as required
  • Participant in audits as required

LLN support

  • Record all LLN support activity, included hour daily
  • Provide evidence to the RTO administrator of two professional development session annually
  • Develop and provide support materials to support the students in achieving their learning outcomes.
  • Provide 10 session of one hour per block per course available to students outside of class hours to provide one hour support daily during block and keep records of all LLN activities
  • Provide report to CEO monthly on amount of hours, number of students

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

CAVSS teaching requires knowledge skills and attitude which are critical factors in delivery the outcomes such as the following;

  • Very sound knowledge of language, literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to identify students with skills gaps in LLN and provide the appropriate support to allow
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal learning styles
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to write reports
  • Demonstrated ability to present information that is clear to meet the needs of the students
  • Good organisational / time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Sound judgment
  • Team player
  • Ability to listen to student whom may be very good listening skills

Qualifications required for this position

  • Adult Literacy /Numeracy Teaching
  • Primary School Teaching, but must have; 5 years’ experience teaching literacy and numeracy to groups of adults students
  • Graduate Diploma of Adult LLN Practice
  • Secondary School teaching qualification

Essential Screening Checks, Licenses, Registration and Professional Development

  1. Working with children check
  2. National Police checks/criminal history
  3. WA Driver’s license “C” class

Internal Relationships

This position will be required to work closely with Educators and other CAVSS/LLN support staff to be effective in their role. All reporting and operational needs will be directly with the manager.

External Industry Relationships

This position is required to keep abreast of changes and updates to CAVSS business guidelines and policies. Attend at least one CAVSS forum annually.
