Nurse Educator
Role purpose
- Provide training and assessment services in accordance with Clause 1.13, 1.14 and 1.16. Coordinate and deliver UoC’s in line with Vocational Education Training guideline and meet all the requirements as per the Training package
- Comply with the Standards for RTO 2015 and confirm that an individual can perform to the standard required in the workplace, as specified in a Health Training package.
- Comply with the Accreditation standards/guidelines set down by the relevant regulator of the program
- Adhere to all of Marr Mooditj Training policies and procedures
Key Responsiblities and Accountabilities
Operational
- Demonstrate your ability to carry out tasks in line with all of current MMT policies and Procedures in place
- Provide a report on monthly activities, including any safety and health matters
Effectively at all staff meetings
- Adhere to all work place safety policies and procedures at all times
- Carry out your work in a safe and healthy manner at all times and report any risk/hazards as soon as reasonably practicable
- Participate effectively in strategic planning sessions
- Provide screening and clearances to meet job role and MMT compliance as per the policy
- Support with promotional events as required
- Demonstrate your support by helping other employees when needed
- Prepare for and Participate in Audits as required
- Behaviour in a manner that is consistent with Marr Mooditj Training Purpose/Values
- Assist the student wherever necessary to develop their learning
- Demonstrate effective participation in continuous improvement processes of MMTAC
Key Performance Task and Key Indicators
- Plan, Develop and Implement delivery and learning resources, assessments, session plans for the Units of competency as per the MMT internal approved Training and Assessment Strategy and the Health Training package requirements.
- Provide at end of each block written progress report on student study progress, attendance, classroom issues, placement, retention rates, risks, challenges and strengths
- Participate effectively in two industry networks consultation, peak/employer per annum
- Develop networks of relevant employers and industry representatives to participate in assessment validation as per the MMT validation plan and policy guidelines
- Confirm that MMT enrolled students can perform to the standard required in the workplace, as specified in the Health training package before student attend public health care placement.
- Plan and arrange the clinical work placements of student as required
- Attend to the supervision of nursing students in the clinical placement setting and collect the required evidence of performance.
- Ensure all students are informed correctly with sufficient instruction on their assessment requirements and all evidence collected meet the competency requirements in a timely manner
- Maintain the clinical room area in a clean, safe and tidy learning environment before students leave room.
- Ensure all student have access to the correct clinical equipment for practice
- Collect feedback directly from students at end of each block delivery and provide summary of feedback to relevant manager – if any concerns the summary must provide details of the solution/recommended continuous improvement if required
- Conduct validation as per the validation plan
- Manage students daily attendance roll into the Internal management system
- Mark student work within two days and provide students with their bi-monthly progress report
- Filing of all student work/assessments
- Report and refer any identified student learning difficulties to the relevant support staff as soon as practicable after identification.
- Participate effectively in all audits as required
- Conduct audits on student files every three months
- Demonstrate your ability to support the process of meeting the target set at 80% successful unit completions of each intake your responsibility for.
Professional Development
- Must provide evidence annually of maintaining skills, knowledge, and expertise as a trainer or assessor in this position
- Independently maintain your registration that is required for this position under Australian Health Registry Agency
- Undertake formal and informal activities that encompass vocational competencies, currency of industry skills and knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment, including competency based training and assessment
N.B. The evidence of the PD and formal and informal activities must be provided each February and December each 12 months.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
This position must have 5 years’ experience in Nursing work and the following;
- Ability to develop VET training programs aligned to AQF qualifications.
- Demonstrate a level of organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate daily your effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to resolve conflict situations.
- Strong computer literacy skills, including the Microsoft suite of products and database applications.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in delivering VET training materials for students and delivery.
- Effective presentation skills
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- a sound understanding of Aboriginal culture
- Expert knowledge of the professional standards (ANMAC competencies)
Qualifications Required
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
- Bachelor of Nursing or a Tertiary qualification in a Nursing related field.
- Current clinical industry experience – 5 years minimum – must have Nursing skills up to date
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Diploma of higher in Adult education
Essential Screening Checks, Licenses, Registration and Professional Development
- Working with children
- National Police checks/criminal history
- WA Driver’s license “C” class
- First Aid current certificate
- Current Registration as Registered Nurse
- Evidence of participation within the Industry/profession
Internal Relationships
This position will be required to work closely with Educators and other staff to be effective in their role. All reporting and operational needs will be directly with the manager.
External Industry Relationships
This position is require to keep abreast of changes and updates to Nursing profession guidelines and most current changes to clinical practice under Marr Mooditj Training.
Submit evidence of your attendance at least one Nursing/Industry forum annually.
Provide evidence of your attendance at meeting by submitting minutes of your industry meeting attended (to be placed on your file)
